SVF or Satvik Vegan Festival was started in 2004, to bring together like minded people to have harmless fun in a learning vegan environment. The main objectives of the event are to give some good time for vegans/vegan enthusiasts and to promote veganism by using SVF as a vehicle to reach leaders, opinion makers and the public. We invite people from various places to organise SVF in their own cities.
Guidelines to Follow in Organising the SVF:
1. Please call it 'Satvik Vegan Festival (your city name)'
2. The event is open for vegans and non-vegans alike and it is open for all people to attend irrespective of their place/country of residence.
3. The event has to be created to give some good time for the attendees.
4. The event has to be organised in the best season of the year to facilitate more attendance from other places.
5. Efforts have to be made to bring in influencial leaders for the event.
6. Event has to be promoted to make maximum publicity for and generate more public interest in veganism.
7. Keep at least 6 months from the date of finalising the details to the actual date of the event to plan and execute the event in a systematic manner.
8. The event will be of minimum 2 days with both residential and day visit options.
9. The event will have both conference and expo sections.
Steps in Organising the SVF:
1. Identify the best time/season of the year to organise the event and short-list some dates at least 6 months away.
2. Identify a venue to host the event. The venue is ideally a decent hotel having conference and expo facilities, preferably with a veg-friendly management.
3. Finalise the terms to hire the conference/expo areas and rooms. If necessary pay an advance or agree for a later date to pay advance.
4. Make a participation rate chart. The cost of participation to include food, accommodation and coference/activities.
5. Make a separate rate for day visitors.
6. Include an extra day for optional exursion and work out it's cost.
7. Start publicising the event so that you can start making bookings.
Finances:
1. The event has to be organised in a self-sustaining manner.
2. The person organising the event has to make some personal committments in case of suffering losses.
3. The sources of income are: Registration Fees by attendees, sposnorship fees, advertisement charges, profit from some promotional activities, donations, etc.
4. Any profit made in organising the event will be utilised to organise future vegan festivals in the same city or other cities.
